Christmas is fast approaching. This morning at Mass Fr Ed talked about receiving gifts. The best gifts are the ones that come from someone who loves us -- and knows us well. Even if it isn't what we wanted, the love that went into the choice warms our hearts. And the gifts that are most fun to give are the ones that have been chosen specifically to delight someone we love. That must be how the Lord looks at Christmas. He has gifts to give each of us that are specially chosen to delight our hearts. To delight His heart, all we need to do is to receive them with joy.
It seems like this is a time for making room -- in the inn of our hearts. At our house, the Lord has been prompting us to literally clean out closets - making room. That's what I was hearing in prayer this morning, too. Clean out the closets. Make room for Me. Sometimes a physical task like clearing away clutter can have an effect in our spirits, too. Let's clear out a little more clutter over the next few days to make room to receive more of Jesus on His birthday -- the best gift of all.

Novena to the Holy Spirit
"Wait for the promise of the Father...you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you." Acts 1:5,6
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created, and you shall renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray.
O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
